Juan Camilo Londoño Manco
Medellín, Colombia. 1990
Performance artist based in Medellín.
BA in Fine Arts at Universidad de Antioquia (2011), and Master in Artistic Research at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2013). I have made diplomate courses in Museology at Universidad Santo Tomás, Oral expression at Universidad de Medellín, and University Teaching at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. I have worked as an art teacher at Fundación Universitaria Bellas Artes (2014-2019) and at Universidad de Antioquia (2016-Currently). In 2018, I enrolled in a Doctorate of Fine Arts at Universidad de Antioquia, to study about performance art in Colombia.
I began to explore performance art in some academic exercises during my BA. After that, I dedicated myself to delve into critical theory, mostly through teaching and studying. My practical work as a professional artist is in its initial five years. As an artist, I have participated in local exhibitions such as “Medellín a Cielo Abierto” at Museo de Antioquia (2019) and “Lo que te diga es mentira” at Universidad Nacional, one local artistic residency at Casa Tres Patios (2015), and one international residency at R.A.T in Mexico City (2015). My work is related to questions about social distance and closeness, inequalities, cultural conflicts, prejudice and intersectionality.
